Alumni

Alumni membership is a special NSP registration category for members who no longer want to provide emergency care or rescue services but wish to remain involved with NSP. NSP created the alumni program in 1977 and there are currently more than 5,000 registered alumni members. As an Alumni Member, you will continue to enjoy many NSP benefits, and stay connected with your fellow patrollers.
Alumni membership is available for any member who has been registered as a Patroller for at least a year, but who needs to take time away. Alumni members are not required to keep up their OEC certifications, but we highly recommend it if you plan to return to patrolling. Members can seamlessly transition back to patrolling at any time if they meet all current requirements.
Thank you for your continued support of NSP through an Alumni Membership!

There are many reasons to become an Alumni Member other than retirement. Often “Life Issues” such as family responsibilities, health or medical concerns, a move to the South Seas, new additions to the family, job responsibilities, etc. prohibit continuing as an active Patroller. Therefore, many Patrollers choose to maintain their OEC certification and “temporarily” join the ranks of Alumni until they are able to resume active patrolling.
